Samir Amarin
Honorary Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Slovenia / Jordanian
I came to Yugoslavia, a country little known to me, as a student at the tender age of 18. First, I lived in Belgrade and Zagreb. Than my path led me to Ljubljana, where I finished my studies in pharmacy.
I left my native kingdom of Jordan, known for its very old culture and rich history, and soon settled in the new environment. I met new acquaintances, made new friends, got familiar with the new culture and the dynamic economy. People were kind, they accepted me. To them, I was not a foreigner.
I lived in the centre of dynamic events and watched the quickly changing economic development. A new policy was emerging and with it came the independence of Slovenia.
In Zagreb, I met my wife. We have two adult daughters, Nadia and Laila, a granddaughter, Nour, and a grandson, Sofian, a real treasure.
I have been an Honorary Consul General of Jordan in Slovenia for quite some time. Everyday work keeps me in close contact with my native land and I endeavour to build closer connections between Jordan and Slovenia in all areas of economy and culture.
It is nice when I am in Jordan but I am always glad to return to Slovenia, to my family and my second home.
