    Painter / Chinese

I have been living in Slovenia longer than I lived in my home country and do not know exactly when Slovenia became my second home country. When I came to Slovenia, China was not as open as it is now and I came here despite my parents’ advice. After Slovenia gained its independence, new opportunities opened up to me and I can say that I grew up together with this young country. I have found new opportunities for creativity, as the quality of art here is very high despite the small environment and the artistic scene allows a lot of creative freedom, and that is the reason why I have matured as an artist here and set on a path of interculturalism and cooperation with fellow Slovenian artists. In this respect I found my identity in search of traces of Hallerstein, the forerunner of cultural and scientific contacts with China. In doing so I have always been inspired by the extraordinary diversity of the great outdoors, which I enjoyed sharing with all the friends I invited to come and see this beautiful country.  Though I am Chinese, I have often represented Slovenia and its culture in China and elsewhere in the world in recent years, and I also work organising visits of Slovenian artists to China, where we hold joint exhibitions or participate in other cultural events. On my journey of personal growth I have overcome numerous obstacles and on my way up I even scaled the summit of Mt. Triglav, which was a great pleasure as I can now symbolically be considered a true Slovenian.
